The Broadway Hotel, Broadway, Cotswolds
A contemporary-chic haven at the end of Broadway's beautiful if busy high street, this well-located hotel exudes history and charm. It offers good brasserie cuisine, an impressive bar, a tranquil back garden and a pleasingly quiet sitting room. Its 19 bedrooms are stylish and comfy in equal measure.

Style
The décor has a subtle horse racing theme in keeping with the hotel's popularity as a base for racegoers to Cheltenham (which is about 13 miles south). An elegant and cosy hotel, there are arty touches - such as sketches and paintings on walls and clever use of bold fabrics for cushions and curtains.

Restaurants & Bars
The dining spaces in the hotel serve the same menu, which focuses on Modern British cuisine. Dishes can range from classic pastas and fish and chips with homemade tartare sauce to pan-fried stone bass. We loved the roast lamb pavé and lamb shoulder shepherd's pie with heritage carrots and stout jus. The afternoon tea is a delight.
Tattersall's: conservatory brasserie. All-day dining, open daily.
Jockey Bar: open daily for dining and drinks. Afternoon tea served 12-4:30pm.
