The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed - perfect for a countryside break. The hotel gracefully retains its old school charm thanks to wood panelling, roaring fires, oil paintings and rugs on flagstone floors.

In the colder months, cosy up in front of one of the fireplaces; when it's warmer, explore the impressive ten-acre garden complete with rose beds, a croquet lawn and tennis courts.

The restaurant serves Modern British cuisine and you'll find dishes that use fresh local produce, such as free range chicken or new season lamb. The pan-fried cod with saffron fennel and puffed wild rice was a gourmet work of art. There's also a wonderful afternoon tea complete with scones and cucumber sandwiches.
