By car: around 2 hours from Nottingham and over 4 hours from London. Paid parking available nearby.

By train: London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly takes around 2 hours, after which, it's a 10-minute taxi to the hotel. Book trains to Manchester.

The hotel is housed in the bottom 23 floors of local landmark building, Beetham Tower, which stands at 47 storeys high. Public areas are modern and minimalist with netural décor, and floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood in.

Staff are welcoming and helpful, especially those in Cloud 23 that recomended drinks. Facilities include the swimming pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room - plus a gym that accepts members as well as guests. An independently-run spa offers treatments.

We recommend booking at Cloud 23 - the star of the show - it's popular with locals as well as guests. Visit for cocktails, afternoon tea, brunch or bar snacks. Try the Vertigo (a long drink combining gin with raspberry, lychee, cranberry and lime). Podium restaurant is on the ground floor and serves up classics.
