Location
Despite its location, it doesn't feel too noisy or busy. Head out to explore the city - there are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in the surrounding streets.
Ideally placed for exploring Newcastle, it's a few minutes' walk from the station and near several bus stops.
By car: over 5 hours from London and 3 hours from Manchester. On-site parking costs £14 per day.
By train: London Kings Cross to Newcastle takes around 3 hours, after which, it's a 4-minute taxi ride (or 4-minute walk). Book trains to Newcastle.
Style
The décor cleverly includes elements of the city's identity, such as feature walls showing iconic Newcastle buildings in the bedrooms, or the subtle use of black and white in the colour scheme to match the colours of the local football team.

All rooms are a decent size, with the bathrooms featuring a shower only; there are several accessible rooms. Monochrome décor is livened up by splashes of colour. Choose a room on a higher floor for a fantastic view of the city - you could see St James' Park or the Gothic lantern tower of the cathedral.

Restaurants & Bars
The Grainger Bar & Restaurant is a laidback spot, and is named after the nearby district of the same name. At breakfast, there's a buffet and dishes cooked to order, while in the evening the menu focuses on hearty dishes and classics done well. It's worth saving room for one of the indulgent desserts, or at least a cocktail in the comfortable bar area.
Grainger: ground-floor restaurant and lounge. Dishes include burgers, steak and fish & chips. All-day dining, open daily.
