Style

This storied building hosted a litany of legends in its former incarnation as the BBC's Kensington House - and a fair few celebrities since. The exterior is lit up with neon at night and looks appealing, while inside, rock and roll artworks pay tributes to this hotel's musical heritage. In the Studio Bar, chainmail curtains separate clusters of velvet cocktail chairs. However, the once cutting-edge décor is starting to look a little dated in places.

Service & Facilities

Cheerful staff make the guest experience here, and we appreciated the off-menu suggestions from the mixologist in the cocktail bar. As well as the spacious spa there's a well-equipped gym on site, plus a small restaurant and bar and a stylish chill-out space equipped with a TV and books.

Bedrooms

Even the smallest of the 219 guest rooms are spacious, at well over 200sq ft. The rooms' décor is vibrant and funky, with bold wall art and brightly-coloured throw cushions. Bathrooms are by comparison rather staid.

Room types: Junior, Superior, Deluxe, Executive, Studio, K Suite

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities, TV, in-room tablet, free Wi-Fi

Restaurants & Bars

The Studio Kitchen is open all day, starting with buffet and à la carte breakfast options and offering a crowd-pleasing choice of bistro-style dishes at lunch and dinner. Though the space is rather over lit, dishes like salad Niçoise or a Korean chicken burger are prepared with care. The breakfast here is excellent - especially the avocado toast with perfectly poached eggs.

Studio Kitchen: small plates and sharing platters. All-day dining, open daily.

Studio Bar: cosy lounge, extensive cocktail menu. Open daily from 4pm.
