Location

Located in the Marais district, this is a great base for first-time visitors with plenty of atmosphere. A short stroll away, you'll find the Musée Picasso and Musée Carnavalet, devoted to the history of Paris.

You're in the 3rd arrondissement at the junction of rue de Poitou and rue de Saintonge; the nearest Métro station is St-Sébastien-Frossart.

By plane: London or Manchester to Paris Charles de Gaulle takes 1 hour 15 minutes, after which, it's a 50-minute drive to the hotel. Paid parking available nearby. Book flights to Paris.

By train: London to Paris Gare du Nord takes 2 hours 20 minutes, after which, it's a 15-minute drive to the hotel. Book trains to Paris.

Style

Fashion designer Christian Lacroix created this zany showpiece in 2005 and his designs have a joyous energy. While boutique hotels have moved on since then, this is an intimate and interesting base.

Rooms can be found in two adjoining buildings, although some are rather small. Rooms are individually-designed by Christian Lacroix and are awash with colour, with wild wallpapers and sumptuous furnishings.

There are plenty of good restaurants nearby and the hotel staff will help make reservations.
