MORE INFORMATION

Location

The hotel is surrounded by 20 acres of parkland, so feels rural. The private drive, mature trees and pretty rose gardens keep it feeling secluded. It's in the shadow of the volcanic outcrop of Arthur's Seat.

You're on the southern outskirts of the city, only 10 minutes' drive from the city centre.

By car: around an hour from Glasgow, 2 hours 30 minutes from Newcastle and 4 hours 30 minutes from Manchester. Free on-site parking available.

By train: Glasgow Queens Street to Edinburgh Waverley takes around 50 minutes, it's 3 hours from Manchester Piccadilly and 4 hours 45 minutes from London Kings Cross - after which, it's a 10-minute drive to the hotel. Book trains to Edinburgh.

Style

From the exterior, it looks like a typical Scottish country house dating back to the late 17th Century. Inside, you'll find seductive reds and purples, art-covered walls and antiques, brocades and velvets. It's opulent and dramatic, where more is definitely more.

Service & Facilities

There is a choice of four lounges, each with a log fire - one leads out onto the terrace. In warmer weather, tables and chairs are in outdoor areas. You can hire electric bikes or play golf next door. Speak to staff about other local activities, they are happy to arrange anything from chauffeured day-trips with picnic hampers to theatre tickets.
