Originally built in 1905 for The Scotsman newspaper offices, this landmark building still has its Edwardian grandeur. With baronial turrets and grand windows on the exterior, within you'll find oak panelling and a marble staircase. That said, it still has a sense of modern luxury.
Surprisingly, there is no guest lounge, but if you fancy a lazy evening, there's a plush cinema and you can indulge in cocktails and ice cream. Staff are helpful and the concierge team are efficient. The free shoe-shine service is a nice touch.

The Grand Café hits all the right notes with its all-day menu, comprising strong Scottish ingredients from Scottish mussels to blackened seabass with sweetcorn chowder. Bag a mezzanine-level table to be tucked away but still watch the action. Breakfast is served in a separate dining room and is a buffet of hot and cold food, as well as dishes cooked to order.
Grand Cafe: All day dining, seasonal Scottish ingredients. Dishes include Highland venison, Haggis spiced roast celeriac steak and line-caught haddock. Open daily, 10am-11pm.
