Hotel Review
Walwick Hall, Hexham, Northumberland
A small Georgian mansion, built on the line of Hadrian's Wall, with enviable views and a classy but unfussy country-house style with high-quality furnishings and fine-dining. There's also a small spa with a Jacuzzi, steam room and glass-walled pool.

Style
On the whole, the feel is very traditional country house - think pelmet curtains, gilt-framed mirrors and candelabras. However, deep velvet sofas and splashy wallpapers give it a contemporary touch - the bar is smart and contemporary, and the dining room is rather glitzy.
