You couldn't be any more central here; you're just off George Square around the corner from Queen Street Station. This hotel is well placed for shopping, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries, while it's easy to get further afield on the city's underground trains - or taxis are pretty reasonable. There are good food and drink options nearby, too.

Head to the famous Barras Market on weekends and buy a kilt, a kite or a bunch of bananas.

There's a pleasingly simple use of space here, which evokes Japanese principles, and works well without sacrificing comfort. The building's industrial past shines through in the exposed brickwork, beams and distressed tiles - there's a relaxed metro/retro/chic feel that makes it a good choice for those that appreciate excellent design.

Given the prices, you wouldn't - and shouldn't - expect services you'd find in pricier hotels. There's no room or laundry service but reception is covered 24 hours and staff are delightfully welcoming and helpful.

Rooms are well-designed with a clean, simple look - all you need albeit in a small space. Bijou bathrooms with partially frosted glass walls but big showers are built into the room, and basic toiletries are provided. Beds and lighting are good, and there's a kettle and a decent hairdryer.
